Jürg Hügin is responsible for cellar and operations. A deep-rooted passion for wine and the entire process of its creation, as well as the associated connection to nature and agriculture, eventually awakened the desire to be not only a consumer but also a producer.
With Cantine Stucky Hügin, Jürg Hügin has realized his own vision of winemaking. Here he can put his acquired knowledge and individual philosophy into practice, from the selection of grape varieties and the cultivation of the vineyards to the vinification in the cellar. His wines now bear his signature and reflect his interpretation of the respective terroir. The collaboration between Werner Stucky and Jürg Hügin began in 2007.

In the early 1980s, oenologist Werner Stucky came to Ticino and laid the foundations for quality winegrowing in the region. He was fascinated by Bordeaux wines and the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. His del Portico Riserva 1983 was the first barrique wine in Ticino. He helped almost all newcomers get started and supported them with advice and practical assistance. He produces wines that come from the heart and not from the head, wines that are substantial, full of character, and very long-lived.
Werner Stucky's wine philosophy will continue to be decisive in the future.
